Vinyl Windows
Windows made from vinyl are strong and provide very good
energy savings. They are available in a wide range of styles
and shapes.
Vinyl windows represent the largest portion of market share
in the replacement window industry. Vinyl windows are
extremely energy efficient. What this means is if it's cold
outside the vinyl does a good job of resisting the heat
inside your home from being transferred to the out side.
Conversely, if you are in a hot area, and are expending
money keeping your home cool, vinyl will perform well by
keeping that heat out, and the cool in.
The only downside to vinyl is that there is a limitation on
color selection.

Wood Windows
Producing higher R-values, wood windows are unaffected by
temperature extremes, and are less prone to condensation,
but they require more maintenance in the form of periodic
painting.
Most of the wood windows sold, for replacement purposes, are
actually, clad windows. What this means is the window has
been covered, on the exterior only, with a material that is
usually either vinyl or aluminum. The reason for this is to
reduce the amount of maintenance needed to keep the exterior
of the window in good shape.
Replacement windows made of wood are a very popular choice
of material. Many consumers prefer the aesthetic look of
wood windows for the interior of their homes

Fiberglass
Windows
Fiberglass windows are constructed out of fiberglass cloth
and epoxy resins, similar to modern boat construction
techniques. This results in a smooth, strong finish that can
be painted if the home owner eventually decides they wish to
do so. Vinyl windows should not be painted and once
installed you're stuck with that color.
Fiberglass windows lend themselves to larger openings due to
greater strength and stiffness properties than vinyl.

Aluminum
Windows
Though ideal for customized window design, aluminum frames
are not as energy efficient as vinyl or wood and they do not
rust and do a great job of resisting weather.
Aluminum windows are very strong are therefore good for
commercial projects, oversized windows, and odd-shaped
window applications.
Aluminum windows also have a larger viewing area because
they have a much thinner frame profile.
Aluminum windows need very little maintenance in order to
maintain peak performance.

New Construction
Windows
A new construction window has a flange running
around the perimeter of the window frame which is nailed or
screwed to the house framing.
Then
the house siding, bricks, stucco or other permanent covering is
placed over the flange so it's concealed.
Replacement windows are designed to fit inside
your existing nailed-in window frame once your original windows
are removed from their frames. This makes for a very neat,
simple and clean installation.
New construction windows are made to a set of
‘standard’ sizes which will rarely fit a replacement opening
properly but are designed for the most common sizes used in new
home construction.
