Tables, Fireplaces and other Surfaces:

Lay down a runner or a festive table cloth you have in your home. Do you have wine glasses? Flip them over and place candles on the flat end. For extra decoration, place ornaments or any festive items you have inside the cup of the glass.

Have you bought your Christmas tree? Be sure to collect a couple of stray branches from the lot to add to your home. Place some greenery around your glasses for a fresh smell and festive look.

If you have vases lying around the house, bring them out of hiding! Fill them with ornaments, candy canes, extra tree branches, holiday bows – get creative here!

Depending on where you live, go outside and collect pine cones, berries or any form of nature to place around your home.

Door:

If you are a crafty little ninja, create your own wreath out of extra tree branches. Add lights to the wreath and ornaments to make it fit to your personality.

Purchase a garland to wrap around the door frame. Decorate this to your taste with ornaments, glitter, lights and pinecones. Get crafty!

Too generic for your home? Purchase large craft letters from a local store and paint them holiday colors. This allows for more creative freedom. Find letters to spell out festive words or use your initials to decorate.

Ornaments:

Find cheap clear ornaments at the Dollar Tree or Walmart. Fill the ornaments with multi-colored glitter for a simple way to jazz up your tree. Get the kids involved and have them decorate their own ornaments with ribbons, paint pens and glitter.
